Go back to the zoo

If you read the title of this blog literally you might think I lost my mind.
First of all, even literally taken it's a cool idea because visiting the zoo is totally old skool.
But for people who are Dutch or into Dutch music this title might mean something different: Exactly, a band.

These 4 guys from Nijmegen and Amsterdam were inspired by a big mess of different other bands but all I can say is that whatever this influence was, it worked.
Their music is catchy and makes you happy, at least me.

They also have twitter, namely @GoBackToTheZOO and a few days ago I saw a tweet saying that people that wrote a good explanation why they should be allowed, had a chance to win two tickets to the release party of their new album 'Benny Blisto' in Amsterdam.
There is this Dutch saying (literally translated): if you never shoot, you always miss. So with that sentence in my thoughts I typed a short message why I should be allowed to the party and send it. Even if I would fail, at least I tried!

Then the next day my blackberry said I had an e-mail (yes the blackberry is back!) and it was from the management of the band saying that my message was that good that I was invited to their party upcoming Tuesday! Yaaaaay
So Tuesday the 10th of August I am taking my sister to the club Westerunie in Amsterdam for one hell of a party.
There is just one issue left, an issue that will probably be an issue for every remaining day of my life: What will I wear?

Since the band is called Go Back To The Zoo, I am planning on wearing something animal inspired. I'm not sure yet what it will be, but I will figure something out.

Here some music for all of you who don't know them yet, enjoy!

Bloody hot

Not only the weather of the past days makes the temperature rise.
The subject or subjects of this blog can be described in several ways:
They are bloody hot, their love might hurt, they are dangerously attractive and are hungry for you. Literally.

Yes, I am talking about our dear friends Edward Cullen, Damon Salvatore, Bill Compton and many more.
I am one of the victims who has been infected by the vampire mania.
I love them all. I'm reading all the books and watching all the movies and series.
You can quietly say I'm an addict.

But what are my favorites?

Until so far I have read all the books within the Twilight Saga, four books from The Vampire Diaries and one book from the series 'Undead and ...' by MaryJanice Davidson.
I have seen Twilight and New Moon and will see Eclipse on Tuesday. Next to that I have seen everything there is to see of The Vampire Diaries and True Blood tv series so far.

I feel really sad that there are no more surprises or storylines to be unraveled about the Twilight Saga. I love the books so much that I read Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn within one week. I couldn't stop and sometimes read until 4 in the morning. What I recall is that I started reading the books around the same time as the first movie came out. Even though the books contain way too much information to be used in a movie, I like them both equally. Did I say like? Excuse me, I don't like, don't even love... I adore them. I'm very excited to see Eclipse on Tuesday and Breaking Dawn later this year which will be produced into two movies.

At this point, I still have three books in the future of The Vampire Diaries.
The Vampire Diaries was introduced as a tv series to me. Later I also bought the books and started reading those.
I was really surprised that although the books and tv series are supposed to be the same story, they are completely different.
We still have Elena, Damon and Stefan. But that's about it.
What is different? Elena's family, the looks of some characters, the complete storyline.
Even though I find it regretfull that these differences are so big, I see pro's in both of them. While I love the tv series for its characters and actors, I also love the books for their extreme sense of tension. Great writer!

A book I ordered online with a bunch of others, suprised me positively.
I already liked vampire stories at that point, saw the title and decided to include it in my order.
Later I found out that it was one book from a larger series of books. Larger than Twilight and The Vampire Diaries. Written by MaryJanice Davidson.
For you who do not know this writer, I introduce to you: The Undead series.

This is where the story begins:
Betsy Taylor turns 30, gets laid off, is killed by an SUV and wakes up dead all in the same week. The vampire community is convinced she's their prophesied Queen. But she's not having any of it—she's got shoes to buy! And now the undead world is being turned upside-down by a Bela Lugosi throwback and her subjects expect her to take care of it! Why didn't she read the handbook? But her would-be consort, Eric Sinclair, is (annoyingly) ever-present. If only he wasn't so tall, dark, gorgeous...and undead.

I only read one book so far and I find the series hilarious. Gonna order the rest of the series asap!

My most recent vampire addiction also exists of TV series and books with lead character Sookie Stackhouse.
I saw all the episodes so far, a new one tomorrow! And I like it, even though I think the characters have a serious accent which I could not really find this strong in other movies/series. If I where Sookie and visited Fangtasia sooner, I would have chosen Eric instead of Bill. Why? Eric is supersexy, he is sheriff (read: has power) and is a little dangerous. Even though I am a chicken, scared so easily, I like it.
It's safe for me to say since Eric doesn't really exist so he can't read this and come to my house to kill me in my sleep. Or maybe just feed on me. Whatever.

Since I can't choose between all my favorite books, series and movies. I am going to chose my favorite character from each.

Twilight
Jasper Hale/Whitlock/Cullen

With all his hotness, mood controlling power and almost human flaws (he finds it hard to resist human blood) he is my number one favorite vampire of all times.
If only he wasn't Alice's soulmate. Then he would be mine.
Naomi Hale/Whitlock/Cullen.

The Vampire Diaries
Damon Salvatore

Do I even need to say anything?

True Blood
Eric Northman

Sookie is a dumb ass. Look at him!

The Undead series
Eric Sinclair
From what I read, this should be the most gorgeous man on the planet. Considering he's not really a man. But since this is only a series of books, there is no picture or drawing of him what so ever. I tried to think of an actor that is tall, dark and extremely handsom who could play a vampire. But I couldn't imagine anyone until so far.

The one thing that is starting to annoy me is that every single story about vampires at some point also involves werewolves. It was cool with Twilight but then suddenly all new vampire stories had werewolves. Come on guys! Think of something else, be creative! What I do like is that I still find different 'facts' concerning vampires in each story. Some vampires must be a secret, some are completely in public. Some vampires have no problem being around humans without being thirsty and some need years of practice. I like change. That is why I read and watch different stories.

Even though I would be the worst vampire in history or even the worst vampire's girlfriend, I like it. And I will keep reading and watching until I get sick of it, which at this point won't be in a very long time.

Any tips for new things are very welcome!

Love,
Noes

The simple joys in life

I might seem a high maintenance girl. Well, let's be honest in some ways I am.
But sometimes my whole day can brighten up because of some simple things.

Today is such a day.

I am in love with my new shoes. Yes, the pair from my last blogpost. They are standing in the middle of the room on a small table so I can look at them whenever I want. I love them, even though I almost broke my ankle trying them on in the store. Small detail.

The bouquet of pionies standing here on my desk, being just gorgeous.

My new nailpolish. It's the exact right color and was also very low priced. That's what I call a good catch.

This is the one.

My room being all clean and tidy.

The fact that I will finally see 'Eclipse' in 6 days. It's a marathon and we are gonna dress up. Team Jasper!

The fact that I will go to Rockwerchter in 8 days and see Paramore again.

The beautifull weather outside.

Writing a blog instead of preparing my defence of graduation. I know, it's important but I still have time. I will start right after this, I just like blogging better.

I'm going to the movies tonight. It's gonna be Letters to Julliet or The Backup plan.

My new book 'Eat, pray, love' by Elizabeth Gilbert which has a picture of Julia Roberts eating ice cream on the front. I like reading in English. I like Julia Roberts. So far, I like the book. I will blog about it when I finished reading.

Yes, I am happy today. I hope you all are too.
xoxo and love,
Noes

A woman's right to shoes

"The fact is, sometimes it's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes. That's why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun."

How to: Eatible support

No, we are not the champions yet but we still make a chance since we (The Netherlands) already won both our matches!
Do you also want to support your country in the World Championships soccer but want a cute snack too? Here's the solution

How to: World Championship Cupcakes

What do you need?

For the batter:
- 110 grams of butter on room temperature
- 110 grams of fine cristal sugar
- 2 eggs
- 110 grams of self-rising flour
- 1 teaspoon of yeast
- 1 tablespoon of milk

For the buttercream topping:
- 200 grams of icing sugar
- 100 grams of butter on room temperature
- About a table sloon of milk
- food coloring if you want color, depending on the desired colors

A mixer
Several bowls
Plastic gloves (for the food coloring)
A cupcake pan
Cupcake baking cups (12 pieces)

What to do?

Batter
- Pre-heat the oven at 180 degrees.
- Place the baking cups in the cupcake pan.
- Mix the buttor until it's soft.
- Add the sugar, eggs, flour, yeast and milk and mix well again.

TIP! Hold a spoon with batter above the bowl and give it a light swing, if the batter doesn't slide off easily, you should add a little more milk.

- Divide the batter evenly accross the cupcake pan by the use of two spoons.

- Put the cupcakes-to-be in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes. They are done when they rose well and look golden-brown.
- Get them out off the oven AND the cupcake pan as soon as they are done.

TIP! If you leave them to cool off inside the cupcake pan, the baking cups will let go. Not good.

- Let them cool off entirely before you start decorating with the butter-cream frosting. Otherwise it will melt.

Butter-cream frosting
- Mix the butter until it's soft.
- Add the icing sugar and the milk and mix well again.

TIP! Start on the lowest speed level with the icing sugar if you like to keep your kitchen clean.

- When the butter en icing sugar are well blended, you can add color.

TIP! I bought my food coloring at the nearest toko (a store that sells all kinds of herbs, indonesion and other foreign supplies for food).
You can think of food coloring as paint. Do you want an orange color? Then you should find the right combination of red and yellow.
Since I decided to make both orange cupcakes and cupcakes with the Dutch flag, I needed orange, red, white and blue frosting. Of course there is no white food coloring, the buttercream frosting in its original look is already white.

- If you also decide to use different colors, divide the frosting evenly among several bowls, put on your plastic gloves and add coloring to them.

TIP! Start with only a drop or two for each bowl to avoid your frosting to be ruined right away. You can always add more, you can't take it back.
If you don't wear plastic gloves you run the risk of bright colored hands for the rest of the week, I speak from experience.

- Mix the frosting and the coloring with a spoon or mixer.
- Use a decorating bag to nicely decorate your cupcakes with the frosting. If you have never used one you might need some practice, but it gives the best result. If you rather don't use a decorating bag you can also use a large knife or a spatula to smear.
- You might want to add some decorating at the end. I chose for little dutch flags.

Have fun supporting your country!

Bugging me, bugging you

Frustration (Latin: Frustrari)
The emotional state of someone when hampered from his or her expectations, needs or goal. The cause can be influenced from the outside, for example supremacy, and can be expressed by certain characteristics of the person concerning the situation, like agression or apathy. Antonyms of frustration are satisfaction or gratification.

Every now and then, we all get frustrated.
I decided to write this blog after feeling very frustrated and angry myself today.
The situation: I have been a Blackberry user and fan for the last half a year now. It all went well untill yesterday when suddenly the A button (and also the keyboard lock) stopped working entirely. So today I went back to the store I bought it from, explained the situation and waited for their solution.
After all, I still have a legal warrenty.
The verdict was harsh, my beloved blackberry would be send to England where it would be checked on water damage or damage due to dropping the device.
I already told them none of that was the case but ofcourse that wasn't proof enough.
If the handyman who should fix my BB thinks I did this on purpose, it will not be fixed within my warranty. Excuse me?!
The option I have left was to buy a new keyboard on Ebay and replace it myself. But since I am not such a handywoman and since it would also mean that my warranty is gone completely, that was not the best idea.
So now my phone is somewhere on the road to England and all I have left is my sim-card and a form saying what happened. Not to forget, this will probably take 4 entire weeks. According to the store I am not entitled to a phone for the meantime since this is probably my own fault (IT ISN'T!)

So I'm sitting here with my old Nokia phone that now contains the sim-card, I am still paying my regular bill for the month but will not be able to use the internet since the current Nokia phone does not have the e-mail or internet option.

I probably sound like a spoiled brad but this drives me insane.

This makes me wonder:
What are the most common causes of frustration? And how should we deal with it?

According to newspaper 'De Pers' in The Netherlands, the most important cause of frustration are consumer cases.
In 2009 more than 14.000 complaints where filed, that is over a thousand more than the year before. The most common complaints seem to concern warranties and conformity.

At number two are the telecom companies especially focussing on text subscriptions and on the third place are the health insurances.
Seems that my current frustration involves both number one and two.

But think about it, not only large issues can make you go mad as hell.
Tickets being sold out, dog poo on your shoe, your favorite heels breaking, bad weather, lack of money, the ink cartridge or your printer being empty right before a deadline, a haircut gone wrong, traffic jams, commercial breaks, wrappers or packages that just won't open, loud ringtones, long waithing lines, bad grammar and on and on and on.

Now tell me, what are your main reasons to get frustrated or irritated?

Whenever I'm frustrated, I try to talk to my family. They mostly have usefull things to say and will try to give me advice that calms me down, but doesn't always work.
How should we handle frustration?

Ask yourself(and answer honestly) what is going right or positive in this situation?
You found something? Even it only is a tiny fact?
Good, then you are already thinking about something else than only negative.
That's where we are headed.

Me: the positive thing is that the Blackberry will probably be fixed.

If frustration is a common feeling to you, make lists of accomplishments.
Decide for yourself if it shall be weekly or monthly and just write down all the things you have accomplished. Things that did work out.
Whenever you feel bad, look at the list and realise you are not a failure.

Me: I bought a great cooking book, I helped my dad with the new TV, I found another phone I can still use, I'm trying to calm myself down, I'm writing a blog about it.

Focus on what you want to happen.
Go back to the big picture. What is your desired outcome? Sometimes, we get so wrapped up in one problem and trying to solve it that we forget what we were originally trying to accomplish. Try not to ask yourself: Why did this happen?
The important thing is knowing the answer to the following two questions:
What do I want to happen differently this time?
What do I need to do in order to get there?

Me: I want my beloved Blackberry to be home soon with a fixed A-button. If this will really be the case, is out of my hands for the moment.

Think of multiple solutions.
You always have options. You just need to brainstorm and figure them out. Tell yourself you need to come up with 8 possible options to what you’re dealing with. Just knowing that you have lots of options will help to make you feel better. You won’t feel like you are trapped in one negative situation. From your list, figure out the best direction and go for it.

Me: Stay up to date about the current status of the repair of my phone, pick it up as soon as I get a message.

Take action!
When you get into serious frustration with a problem, you tend not to want to work on it anymore. It’s hard, it’s frustrating, and you’re not getting anywhere. So, anything to avoid having to be in that situation may be far more attractive. Procrastination may start to set in. If you can keep taking steps forwards, you will probably make it past this temporary hump. As Thomas Edison said, “Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up” and “Surprises and reverses can serve as an incentive for great accomplishment.”
Try not to worry but instead use the energy on ideas.

Focus on a positive outcome.
If you only think about all the bad things that can happen, you will keep feeling miserable. Try to think of outcomes that are positive, it will make you feel more relaxed.

Me: At least they are sending it somewhere to repaired, the worst thing that can happen is for me to miss the blackberry for a couple of weeks before I can use it again. I will survive

I would love to hear about the things that bug you and how you (try to) deal with them.

Love,
Noes

How to: Homemade chocolate chip cookies

I'm back!
My apologies for the lack of blogging, I was extremely busy writing my graduation research for school. At the moment I am waiting for the board to decide upon my faith which means I have some time for myself and ofcourse you again!

To celebrate this joyfull fact I am introducing a new type of blog, one that I am intending to use more often: 'How to'.
In my How to blogs I want to share my knowledge or experiences with you so not only me, but also you guys at home can give a shot in what I am doing. Whatever 'it' is depends on each different blogpost.

To start of right, I proudly present my first How to blog.
'How to: Homemade chocolate chip cookies'

What do you need?
225 grams of butter (room temperature)
350 grams of ligth brown castor sugar (basterdsuiker in Dutch)
2 eggs
400 grams of flower
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoon of yeast (gist in Dutch)
225 grams of chocolate, dark chocolate works best but all sorts are possible

A handmixer
Several bowls
At least two baking sheets (bakplaten in Dutch)
Baking paper

What to do?

- Preheat the oven at 180 degrees. (Remember to leave out the baking sheets)
- Put the butter and the sugar together in a bowl and mix well.

- If the substance of butter and sugar is well mixed, add the eggs one by one and mix together well.

TIP! Break the eggs in a seperate bowl one by one before adding to your butter en sugar. Why? If the egg is bad or some of the shell gets in there while breaking it, the rest isn't ruined.

- Add the flower, salt and yeast and keep mixing untill every ingredient is well dissolved in the dough. This dough is very heavy and thick so you will probably need a high level of speed on the mixer.
- Chop up all the chocolate in chuncks, don't grate it because then it will be too small, and add it to the dough.

TIP! If you have trouble chopping the chocolate, put the bars in a bowl and put them in the microwave for just a few seconds on the lowest heath level. But make sure they don't melt! The bars still need to be solid. Also use a knife that has 'teeth', this will give you more grip on the chocolate but watch your fingers.

- Again, mix together well so that the chocolate chips are divided evenly in the dough.
- Cover your baking sheets with baking paper, this to avoid your cookies to get stuck to the baking sheet, and make 6 little heaps of dough on each baking sheet. Keep them seperate from eachother so they still have space to 'grow'.

TIP! This dough is enough for 24 chocolate chip cookies, so you bake 4 baking sheets with each 6 chocolate chip cookies. If you have less baking sheets, like I do, you bake the cookies in several shifts.

- Put the cookies in the oven for about 10 minutes. The exact time depends on the exact heath of each seperate oven so watch the cookies from minute 9 until minute 12.
If the cookies look brown around the edges with small cracks, they can come out.
- Leave them on the baking sheet until they are cooled off entirely. If you don't, like I did sometimes, they will break easily.

- Present them in a cute cookiejar. I like my jar with cupcake design but one of glass looks very nice too.

Bon appetit!

This is a recipe from the Hummingbird bakingbook with some slight adjustments due to my own experiences.
Hummingbird Bakery is created by Tarek Malouf and is a huge success in London.
They are famous for their cupcakes, brownies, cakes, pies, bars and cookies.
You can find them on Portobelloroad in Notting Hill, Old Brompton Road in South Kensington and Wardour Street in Soho. If I ever visit London any time soon, you can find me there.
Visit the website here: http://hummingbirdbakery.com

I would also like to thank the readers that have left a message lately. To be honest I didn't think this blog was actually read by people so I appreciate the messages very much, thank you!
If you have any comments, tips, or requests for blog subjects I would very much like to hear them. So please comment! I'm so curious who you, my readers, are.

I am planning to make a recipe for World Championship (soccer) cupcakes.
If this recipe works out well, I will write a How to about it too.

If you have any questions about this recipe, feel free to ask them.
For now: Have fun baking, thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you!

The festival season is open!

Yes yes, I know. It did not actually start yet.
But if you know me a little, I am already preparing myself for it.

What to do, what to take and most importantly: what to wear?!

I will show you a few of my favorites, maybe then you'll recognise me on Pinkpop and Rock Werchter this year!

To start off with: hair.
Having your hair blowing in the wind, wild and free is amazing but in a huge crowd it can be very annoying too. But no worries ladies, because I found a very stylish solution, the new trend for 2010: the Alexander Wang braid.
I love it!

To follow chronological order, next up is: tops.
You never know what the weather will be but what you do know (or should know) is that coats are a no go. Very annoying, uncomfortable and to heavy to carry around.
So best is to choose for a cute top with vest.
Cold? You wear the vest.
Hot? Bye bye vest.
Rain? (yes it happens) wair a poncho with your vest. Still not too hot :)
Of course you still want to look good and not boring.
This top by H&M is cute, not too expensive and you can still get a tan with the spaghetti straps!

For a vest I would advise something made a cotton. Cotton does not irritate, does not make you sweat any more then you already do in the crowd and it breaths.
If you wear a cute top you can choose a simple vest. Of course you choose a color that matches with your cute top ;)

Or with a little shorter sleeves:

Personally I realy like jeans shorts. If you know before hand that the weather will suck, leave the shorts in the closet for next time. Looking cute is important but not important enough to get ill!
Why do I say jeans? I like girly things but I like it even better in combo with something tough.

So, for good weather prospects:

For not that good weather prospects:
I really like the boyfriend jeans

Then we are getting to bottom of it. What to put on your feet?

Expecting rain? Take advantage of the situation and wear these supercute boots:

Bright sunny day ahead of you?
Go for comfi and cute kicks.

(Yes, these babies are mine!)

Without a print is very cute too.

Or keeping it more simple.

Great weather and not afraid to have your toes crushed?
Flipflos are the answer my friend!

Is that it?
No no. You never go without some frosting.
Here some crucial accesories:

I already found a picture that has the basics of my favorite festival look.
Add some accesories, braid that hair and maybe change some colors.

Darlings, I'm ready!
What about you?
xoxo

I'll take you to the boozyshop

I know the 50 cent song goes a little different but I want to introduce you to a great site here ladies!

After reading a beauty blog from cashmere & cupcakes I was googling for Essie, a nailpolish brand. The very first hit was a Dutch site!
So you know me, I couldn't resist and took a peak.
The site did not only have the beautifull brand Essie but so much more! And, also tres importante, it's aaaaall make-up!

If you really need to save your money, you might want to sleep on it before cleaning out the whole online store because I'll tell you, it's amazing.
The two brands LA Colors and Diamond cosmetics have all the colors of nailpolish you could wish for. From bright blue to golddigger gold and subtle nudie colors.

But there is more: Lipsmackers, lovely candles, old school lipbalm, huge sets of eye shadow and even professional chairs and kits for make-up artists.

So what did I order since I'm such a fan.
Well here it goes...

LA Colors, nailpolish: Berry Red & Apricot

Diamond Cosmetics, nailpolish: Tropical Dreams & Oh Tiff!

Lipsmackers: Red Raspberry

Jealous already?

Then you might be even more when I say this:

I'm wearing the Apricot nailpolish now and it makes me a very happy girl :)

You name it

First of all: Welcome to my renewed blog!
I figured it was time for a new look to fit the messages so here it is!

The subject of today: pet names.
One of my friends has two new pets but the poor things don't have a name yet. Why? Because it is damn hard to choose a good name for your baby that stays a good name in all situations.
Think about it: If it's a dog and it runs down the street you have to yell it's name really loud, you don't want to look like a fool yelling crazy words down the lane while people stare at you.
You might have to introduce your new pet to a few people, what will they think? And last but not least it has to be damn cute!

Of course names are personal, so different for everyone but I want to share a few suggestions with you.

For pets that belong together:
Dior & Chanel
Joan (Jett) & Cherie (Currie)
Viktor & Rolf
Bach & Beethoven
Aston & Martin
Ben & Jerry
Abra & Cadabra
Bonnie & Clyde
Eboy & Ivory
Rock & Roll
Oscar & Emmy
Scotch & Soda
Posh & Becks
Starsky & Hutch
Blair & Serena

Of course we do not all have twin or brother/sister pets, so here some suggestions for single pets:
Pancakes
Oreo
Bobby
Boots
Gizmo
Baby
Elmo
Miles Davis
Dexter
Yoko
Zara
Hurley
Coco
Peaches
Cookie

These are just a few I thought of, if you are really looking for names this website is great: www.bowwow.com.au

If I would have needed to name a new pet, he or she would have gotten a whole list of names.
Go ahead and fetch some!

If he loves you...

Taylor Momsen knows that boys will be boys. Even at her young age she is that wise.
Here a song from her and her band: The Pretty Reckless
I hope the album is out soon!

He loves you

If he loves you and you believe,
Chicka chicka drip drop on your knees
If he loves when you're dead and gone,
Kissy kissy killer kitty play along
But as for all inside your wounded soul,
He's never ever gonna let you go,
He's never ever gonna let you go,
He's never ever gonna let you go,

If he loves you
He loves you not
Be the one to leave him baby don't get caught
If he loves you
Set your heart on fire
Hate to be the one to tell you he's a liar
If he loves you
He loves you not

So call him closer
Be a doll
He gives you just a taste
But you want it all
But if you stumble before you fall
Take a little taste or you'll lose it all

If he loves you
He loves you not
Be the one to leave him baby don't get caught
If he loves you
Set your heart on fire
Hate to be the one to tell you he's a liar
If he loves you
Oh yeah if he's loves you
Oooooh

Bet your wishing for the day
Wishing and wish it all away
Bet your wishing for the day

Yeah he loves you but he loves you not
Be the one to leave him baby don't get caught
Cause if he loves you, and set your heart on fire
Hate to be the one to tell you he's a liar
If he loves you
Then loves you not
Be the one to leave him baby don't get caught
Cause if he loves you
Ohhh yeah if he loves you
He loves you not

New year's resolutions

Everyone makes them, most of us break them.
This year I decided it's time for some change. Change that stands for keeping my resolutions and be happier.

So, what will I try to keep up?

1. Go to Zumba every week.
Or do a different workout if the Zumba class ends. I must do this to stay at least a little sportive and fit.

2. Loose some weight.
Complaining on how you look and complaining plus doing something about it are two different things. I used to be the first or a little bit in between but I only give myself two options this year: complain and do something or don't complain at all.
We all need to think positive so this is a start.

3. Use a planning.
Every year I buy journals, a calendar, an agenda. And every year they end up on the pile beign maybe used once or twice. First of all: it's a waste, it's better not to buy them at all if I don't use them. Second: It's not really clever. I used to forgot work, homework or appointments because I wanted to know everything from the top of my head.
Secret between us: they make all that stuff for a reason, because people like me are not able to remember everything.
So I already have and started a new agenda for 2010 which I am going to use. Really use.

4. Play guitar
I started to play when I was 9 on my little acoustisc guitar (which I still have) and bought an electric one later, when I was about 14. When I still had a teacher I played every week and sometime after that I still did on school but those times are over.
It's no exception that the guitars are a little dusty sometimes and that is unacceptable.
So, we need to start actively again. Allison Robertson didn't get where she is by sitting around Naomi, get off your ass and do something.

5. Take good care of myself
If you are happier, you also look better.
So I will do fun things but also mind what I am eating, what I am doing, how I look. The sky is the limit as long as I feel and look better:)
I used to be really boring too the last year, so this is the year of change!

Happy times for president!

Making baby-pink frosting stuff

The result! Cute aren't they?

I'm in love. Again, again

This time not someone, but something won me over.
The love for it existed already but one of my christmas presents has really done the trick.

I am absolutely head over heels with

Cupcakes

The ultimate dream would ofcourse be to open my own cupcake bakery. Move over Magnolia Bakery! Here comes my hot to trot cupcake shop. The Cupcake Girl!
To be really able to do that I better start practicing.

I will post the pictures of my debut as cupcake baker here in my next post.
I'm considering chocolate cupcakes with pastel colored frosting.
Sounds yummy, right?

So what have I been up to?

Just say hello!
I had my meet and greet with Paramore! They were so nice and they totally loved my present: wooden shoe slippers! It's so Dutch but still comfi so I choose well.
This is our picture!

Working 9 to 5
I was hired as the new intern for Dutch Mountain Movies in Amsterdam! Yay! So I will be working there from February.

'Pas avec toi'
I found the band 'Plasticines'. It's a French girl-rockband. The people who know me that I am all girl power and rock music so this is a great combo.
Their new album is called 'About Love' and it has English and French songs on it, it's great!

That's it for now!
Next blog will be the result of my awesome (hopefully) cupcakes!

I wanna know what it'd be like...

To find perfection in my pride, to see nothing in the light.

I found a new love and I want to share it with you!
Enjoy

Paramore - Turn it off
Lyrics
I scraped my knees while I was praying
And found a demon in my safest haven, seems like
It's getting harder to believe in anything
Then just to get lost in all my selfish thoughts
I wanna know what it'd be like
To find perfection in my pride
To see nothing in the light
But turn it off
In all my spite
In all my spite
I'll turn it off

And the worst part is
Before it gets any better
We're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize
I'm better off when I hit the bottom

The tragedy, it seems unending
I'm watching everyone I look up to break and bending
We're taking shortcuts and false solutions
Just to come out the hero
Well I can see behind the curtain (I can see, yeah yeah)
The wheels are craking, turning, so wrong the way we're working
Towards a goal, that's not existent
It's not existent, but we just keep believing

And the worst part is
Before it gets any better
We're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize
I'm better off when I hit the bottom

I wanna know what it'd be like
To find perfection in my pride
To see nothing in the light
But turn it off
In all my spite
In all my spite
I'll turn it off
Just turn it off

Again
Again

And the worst part is
Before it gets any better
We're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize
I'm better off when I hit the bottom
And the worst part is
Before it gets any better
We're headed for a cliff
And in the free fall I will realize
I'm better off when I hit the bottom

You don't have to believe me, but the way I see it...

The way I see it? Is that Paramore made an incredible new album!
I took my time on the way to school to listen carfully to all the songs and the whole album is pure honesty. Of course everyone has it's favorites but I already have more than just one favorite.
Hereby I will give you a small piece of lyrics from each song, my favorite parts.
The official date of release is the 29th of September but I hope my deluxe box will be here earlier, I'm in love.

Careful
You can't be to careful anymore,
When all that is waiting for you.
Won't come any closer,
You've got to reach a little more.

Ignorance
Where's your gavel? Your jury?
What's my offence this time?
You're not a judge but if you're gonna judge me
Well, sentence me to another life.

Playing god
You don't have to believe me but the way I, way I see it
Next time you point your finger I might have to bend it back
or break it, break it off!
Next time you point your finger, I'll point you to the mirror.

Brick by boring brick
Well she lives in a fairytale, somewhere too far for us to find.
Forgotten the taste and smell of a world that she's behind.
It's all about the exposure, the lens, I told her.
The angles were all wrong now,
She's ripping wings off of butterflies.

Turn it off
I wanna know what it would be like
To find perfection in my pride
to see nothing in the light.
But turn it off in all my spite,
in all my spite I'll turn it off.

The only exception
My momma swore that she would never let herself forget
And that was the day I promised
Id never sing of love
If it does not exist
But darlin,
You are the only exception

Feeling sorry
I feel no sympathy,
You lived inside a cave!
You barely get by the rest of us,
You're trying, there's no need to apologize,
I've got no time for feeling sorry!

Looking up
Honestly, can you believe we crossed the world while it's asleep?
I'd never trade it in, cuz I've always wanted this!
It's not a dream anymore! Oh
It's not a dream anymore! It’s worth fighting for!

Where the lines overlap
Give me attention, I need it now
Too much distance, to measure it out, out loud
Tracing patterns, across a personal map
And making pictures, where the lines overlap
Where the lines overlap

Misguided ghosts
Misguided ghosts
Traveling endlessly
The ones we trusted the most
Pushed us far away
And there's no one role
We should not be the same
I'm just a ghost
And still they echo me
They echo me in circles

All I wanted
Think of me when you're out, when you're out there
I'll beg you nice from my knees
When the world treats you way too fairly
It's a shame i'm a dream
All I wanted was you..

Get that album as soon as you can!
You are crazy if you don't.

You know you love them
xoxo <3

You don't even like boys

Some guys are just hopeless, and Katy Perry understands that exactly. Go Katy!

I hope you hang yourself with your H&M scarf
While jacking off listening to Mozart
You bitch and moan about LA
Wishing you were in the rain reading Hemingway
You don’t eat meat
And drive electrical cars
You’re so indie rock it’s almost an art
You need SPF 45 just to stay alive

You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like boys
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like…

You’re so sad maybe you should buy a happy meal
You’re so skinny you should really Super Size the deal
Secretly you’re so amused
That nobody understands you
I’m so mean cause I cannot get you outta your head
I’m so angry cause you’d rather MySpace instead
I can’t believe I fell in love with someone that wears more makeup than…

Chorus

You walk around like you’re oh so debonair
You pull ‘em down and there’s really nothing there
I wish you would just be real with me

You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like boys
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like… PENIS

I heart Jasper

Yes, it is true. Head over heels, dazzled, swept of my feet and almost crazy in love if I would know him for real.

Jasper who?

Well he is known by many names: Jasper Hale, Jasper Whitlock or Jasper Cullen.

Still don't know who I am talking about?
Then first take a look at this

The character Jasper, from the Twilight Saga, is not as well known as characters as Edward Cullen, Bella Swan or Jacob Black. But if you really forgot about him, you are clearly missing my point.

Jasper, who is the the partner of Alice Cullen, has a better part and background history than you might think. No one is really sure if he is married to Alice, since this is not stated in the book clearly, but he found his 'soulmate' in her, as far as that is possible for vampires. Jaspers' history starts around the civil war, this was also the point where he was changed.
His ability is to control emotions, which I think is the coolest thing ever, and from his history of war he knows all about making strategies to win from the opponent. To me that's not a little thing either. His owns his ability because he already had a lot of charisma in his human time.

Jaspers' part in the first movie and book was not a big one, but as the story continues he will step into the picture more often.
Of course, that's a thing I love because no one has a better 'shocked face' than Jasper. He probably looks that way because he is amongst humans almost all of the time, and since he is the latests member of the Cullen family to give up drinking human blood, that's a struggle.
As you can see in the trailer for the new movie, New Moon, Jasper attacks Bella when she cuts herself on paper. Bad thing? Well, people say it is. But, as bad as the saying sounds in this situation: the guy is only human.
Of course he actually is not, but he still feels needs like humans do and he needs to stop those. I can imagine that it would be very hard having human blood shoved under your nose.

Imagine yourself following a very strict diet and someone else waving chocolate cake or a big mac in front of your face. Challanging?
Yes clearly.
Dear Jazz, I don't judge you and until Bella finds her way to protect herself from it, you can bite me anytime.

You do not need to tell me Jasper does not exist. I am old enough to stop believing in farytales and horror movies (well, some at least), so my dreamprince on the white horse who drinks blood (detail!) will not show up at my door. But the real person who takes his part is pretty amazing too!

Of course I will miss his shocked look and his blond hair, but Jackson Rathbone is a winner to me!

In the following movies he tells something more about himself and Jasper to MTV.

Clearly, my baby is not a beach bunny. But no stress! I would love to stay inside with you all day. Or we can take a holiday at night times, pretty sexy.

Here for you to read, the complete interview with Jackson Rathbone. Because I like it for sure.

'Twilight' Tuesday: Jackson Rathbone Explains Jasper's Angst And Edward's Attraction

By Larry Carroll (MTV.com)

Lately, we've been doing a lot of talking about "Breaking Dawn," the best-selling latest novel from Stephenie Meyer - which seems only right, since the eyes of Twilight Nation have been buried deep in its pages for the past few weeks.

But with the recent announcement that the Twilight movie has slipped into the high-profile release date that Harry Potter left wide open, this week's Twilight Tuesday returns the focus where it belongs: the eagerly anticipated film that is now only 94 (!) days away.

Since I began meeting the cast, I can't shake the thought that Twilight might become one of those Breakfast Club, Diner or Dazed and Confused - type movies that launch the careers of numerous young stars and then leave us all looking back, amazed that they all once acted together. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson obviously have big-time acting chops, and actors like Mike Welch, Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz are just a few of the others who seem like they could similarly explode if given the right project.

If I were a betting man, however, I'd place my money on Jackson Rathbone, a 23-year-old actor who also plays several musical instruments and has lived all over the world. In person, he's a cool customer with an Elvis-like twang, radiating the kind of charisma that could make George Clooney look like McLovin. While speaking with him, I found a disarmingly intelligent star who took the Twilight world as seriously as any super-fan.

MTV: Tell us about your character.

Jackson Rathbone: Well, I play Jasper Hale, also called Jasper Whitlock, or Jasper Cullen; I've got a lot of names. [Laughs.] Jasper's from the Civil War [era], and that's when he became a vampire. Since then, he's been sort of wandering around; he's got a great back story, but that takes place in the later books. In this movie, Jasper is very angry, and still very reticent about his lifestyle of not eating humans.

MTV: Every year, it seems, Hollywood gives us a ton of vampire movies. What's going to make the Twilight movie different?

Rathbone: Well, most vampire movies are all about the gore and the action and the violence. This movie's about the heart. It's about what moves us as humans, and what is so moving to us that it is even encompassed beyond humanity. These are creatures - they're not people, they're not humans, they're kind of the decrepit side of everything. They're dead; there's no oxygen. They can't feel cold, they can't feel anything, but they can feel emotions and what those emotions lead us to do. You can choose morality, or you can choose the life that nature has provided for you, which is death. It's kind of a life-versus-death-story, but not so much in the realm of "you're going to get killed or get to do some killing," but whether you're going to choose to love life and choose love.

MTV: Why, after all these decades of storytelling, do we still care about vampires?

Rathbone: Well, I think everybody wants to be a vampire. I used to want to be a vampire [when I was young]. It'd be great, you know? Run around at night, never die, kill people. It sounds like a great life!

MTV: Yeah, but is there more to it than just being able to live in a horror movie?

Rathbone: I think the appeal is the mysticism of it all. We're searching for something beyond ourselves, and we find it in a lot of folklore, and a lot of these old stories that get tossed around about living forever and always being beautiful and young. That's the allure of the vampire: You don't age, you don't have to worry about getting old, or never accomplishing something. Time is not a factor, and I think that most people, especially these days, are caught up in time.

MTV: And then, at the center of Twilight, is this great Romeo and Juliet - caliber love story. What can we expect to see from the work that Robert and Kristen have been doing?

Rathbone: Edward and Bella have the greatest sadistic, masochistic relationship there probably is, because Edward is putting himself through hell by being around her; all he wants to do is eat her. But he can't, because of his morality. ... Bella knows what she's getting into, and Edward knows what he's putting her through. So, you get these great characters who are so concerned about each other that they're not concerned about themselves.

MTV: What is it, exactly, that makes them so enamored with each other?

Rathbone: It's a love that is bred out of interest, almost. I mean, he can't read her thoughts, which is something so beyond him and so beyond anything he's come across in his life, so he's intrigued. He's so attracted to her. And she's attracted to him and his ability to coast through everything and be so respected and admired. It's like he doesn't even try. ... What Rob and Kristen have brought to these parts is this amazing lifelike [quality]; it's never fake. It's never put on. There's this weight behind them, and you can see it the moment they call action.

MTV: Your character was a Confederate soldier back in the day. Have you done research into the period?

Rathbone: Yeah, I did a bit of research about the Civil War. I was always interested in it, and I did spend a bit of time [living] in Texas, so whenever I took Texas history, I learned a lot about the Civil War. I was lucky enough to have that background around me already. What I've focused on was the stoicism. ... I never really grew up in the South, I grew up all over, but for my family values and all the Southern values: You don't speak unless you're spoken to; you keep a very calm demeanor; you try to keep everything as light as possible, but if things get heavy, it's not like you're not going to step up. But it's weird to talk about the actual character elements of (Jasper), because it's all so intertwined with the story of the third book, which is where Jasper begins to expand on his heritage and how he was turned and how he lived.

MTV: So, are you planting little seeds in Twilight that will pay off in the sequels?

Rathbone: Yeah, I'm putting it in, here and there. It's nice. I can't do too much with Jasper's power. Jasper has the power to manipulate emotions. There's a danger in that. There's a danger in having that ability, because if you're constantly manipulating emotions around you, there's no reality around you. And because Jasper is able to distort reality, I wanted to steer away from that. I wanted everything to be as real as possible. So I've tried to make the choice for him not to use the power [for now], to be as stoic as possible, be as still and just concentrate on keeping himself at bay, especially in terms of the hunger.

MTV: I can't help but notice that you've naturally got a Southern twang in your voice. Are you keeping that for the character, to show his roots?

Rathbone: I try to keep it as light as possible, because he's been around for 200 years. He hasn't been in Texas that entire time. ... With Jasper, it would be too much to have that accent, especially when you're pretending to be a normal kid. If he had a Texas accent in Washington, in Forks, I think people would tend to notice him a little bit more.

MTV: Are you signed on for the next two sequels?

Rathbone: Yes, I'm signed up to do all three. So, hopefully, all the fans like me in this one.

MTV: What's the coolest thing about being a vampire?

Rathbone: The singular coolest thing, to me, would have to be the ability to just stay out of the sun. I'm not really a sun person; I'm not a beach bunny. I'm more of an indoor-sports kind of guy. You know, just sitting at home with a guitar, very simple. I'm all about nightlife. I live during the night, so that would have to be the coolest aspect for me.

That's my crush until so far.
You know you love me... and Jasper... and Jackson!
